From The Palmer Journal, March 21, 1940, transcribed by Linda Berney:

After several years of poor health, and two weeks of very serious illness, Mrs. Laura Heck passed away at her home in Palmer Tuesday afternoon, March 19th, age 82 years, 9 months and 16 days.

Laura E. Lambert was born June 3, 1857 at Syracuse, Nebraska.

In 1872 she was united in marriage to Adam F. Heck at Valparaiso, Ind. To this union five children were born, two of which preceded her in death. Mr. Heck passed away September 5, 1933.

She leaves to mourn her passing, two daughters, Mrs. Della Peck of Lincoln, Mrs. Grace Smith of Los Angeles, Calif., a son W. Heck of Omaha; five grandchildren and one brother, Bert Lambert of California. Many other relatives and friends.

In 1879 she moved with her husband to Old Mexico, where they resided until 1882 when they moved to the farm south of Palmer. In 1913 they retired from the farm and moved to Palmer where she resided up to the time of her death.

She had long been a member of the Christian Church.

With the passing of Mrs. Heck, another of the old time residents of this community is laid to rest. She will be greatly missed by her family, other relatives, her church and her many friends.
