He married Mary Harris on Aug. 30, 1884. The groom was 18 and the bride was 22 and they both resided in Tyler County at the time of their marriage. The parties providing the information for the marriage certificate were G. W. Davis and O. P. Pratt. Charles F. Bollinger performed the ceremony.

They had at least 8 children:

Oda V. (daughter) born Aug. 21, 1885 in Tyler County
Elsie Ann born Nov. 16, 1887 in Tyler County
Gladys F. born May 19, 1902 in Joseph's Mills, Tyler Co.
