Eva Marie Stutzman, 71, of Goshen, died early Thursday morning, November 26, 2009, at her home. She had been ill since October 2006.
She was born on September 19, 1938, in New Paris, Indiana, to the late, Jency and Lovina (Garber) Hershberger. She married Melvin Stutzman on October 17, 1958. He survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Carla (Bob) Mathis of Goshen; two sons, Steve (Rachel) Stutzman of Topeka, Kansas and Kermit (Pauline) Stutzman of Middlebury; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandsons; four sisters, Rosie Hershberger and Thelma (Richard) Ramer, both of Goshen, and Linda (Richard) Wogoman and Betty (Dave) Schmid, both of Granger; and two brothers, Richard (Kathy) Hershberger of Palm Beach Shores, Florida, and Arthur (Jane) Hershberger of Dillwyn, Virginia.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Terry Hershberger.
A homemaker and a lifetime resident of the area, Mrs. Stutzman was a 1956 graduate of Bethany Christian High School. She was a member of Pleasant View Mennonite Church and had cared for about 60 foster children in her past.
She had worked at nursing homes, as a part time receptionist at Vance Weaver Realty; and as a sales clerk at the former Provident Bookstore in Goshen. She had also served as assistant director at The Window.
Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, November 29, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.
An 11:00 a.m., memorial service will be conducted at Pleasant View Mennonite Church, Goshen. Pastors Ron Diener and Tyler Hartford will officiate.
A private family graveside service will be held prior to the memorial service at Yellow Creek Cemetery, Goshen.
