Ex-Eunice's Official Rites Held
Eunice - Last rites for I.E. Miller, 68 yr old truck line operator & former Eunice councilman, were held at 11:30 a.m. today at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Rev. Jules A. Jeanmard officiating. Burial was in St. Paul's Cemetery with Ardoin Funeral Home in charge.
Miller died at 1:43 p.m. Thursday at his home following an extended illness. The Knights of Columbus and Catholic Daughter's of America recited a joint rosary Thursday night.
A lifelong resident of St. Landry Parish, he came to Eunice in 1925. Miller drove a school bus until 1935 when he started a trucking business hauling supplies to oilfields. His firm is now one of the largest oilfield trucking companies in this area.
Mr. & Mrs. Miller celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary last August.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Helena (Christ) Miller of Eunice, four sons: Ivan Frank, Sr, Henry, Ira & Allen Gus Miller all of Eunice. Six daughters: Mrs. Leonard Franklin ((Ina Miller) Wafer, Mrs. Paul (Helen Miller) Derosier, Mrs. Lawrence Edgar (Lillian Miller) Meaux, Mrs. Cecil W. (Irene Miller) Peterson & Miss Nettie Miller, all of Eunice. Mrs. Harry (Joyce Miller) McCauley of Lafayette. 31 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, four brothers: Ephraim, Eddie, Arthur & Ozema, all of Eunice, and a sister, Mrs. Theophile (Armide Miller) Bergeron of Eunice.
