I, J. Wathen, manager of this memorial, am distantly related to John. His maternal grandfather, John Mapps, was the brother of my 4th great-grandfather, William Mapps. Also, his maternal grandmother, Elizabeth (Highlands) Mapps, was the sister of my 4th great-grandmother, Jane (Highlands) Mapps.
