Richard Arlen Palmer passed away on Monday, August 23, 2010 in Fort Worth, Texas, at the age of 78 years. Richard was the son of Roy & Ruby Palmer,born on December 25, 1931 in Holdenville, Oklahoma, where he was brought up and attended schools. Following his high school graduation, he served four years in the U.S. Army with the 45th Infantry Division during the Korean War. Richard settled down and had a family but that union ended in divorce. Richard soon met Arlene Adeline Frances Feder Lammers and married her August 8, 1975 helping to raise her youngest child from a previous marriage. He worked as a welder in the California shipyards.He retired in 1996 and moved to Weatherford, Texas with wife Arlene, fulfilling a lifelong plan to retire in Texas. Just a short time after settling in,his soulmate of 21 years passed away due to heart surgery complications. He chose to stay in Weatherford instead of moving closer to family, having just moved weeks earlier to his new home. He soon met and married Doris Moore in November, 1997,at Fort Worth, Texas. She preceded him in death one short year later, on December 29, 1998. Richard loved airplanes, and loved flying airplanes. He loved books and reading, fishing, and enjoyed doing mechanic work. Due to failing health, he moved to be near his new family in Fort Worth, his home for the past four years.He was of the Southern Baptist faith. He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy & Ruby Palmer,and one brother, Donald Palmer, his wife of 21 years Arlene Adeline Frances Feder Palmer, wife of one year, Doris Palmer. He is survived by: Roxanne Hellums and family of San Antonio,Texas, Jody and Husband Pete Martinez family of Wilmington,California, Eddie Lammers and family of Texas,and Mark and Shelly Lammers and family of Canyon Lake,Texas,Renee Galusha and husband Bob, of Gilbert, Arizona, Terri Garcia and husband David, of National City,California, Carol Minster and husband Larry, of Weatherford, Texas, Laura Perry of Fort Worth, Texas, Kenneth Batson and wife Shannon of Mechanicsville, Virginia and Marnie Myers of College Station, Texas; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother, Roy Palmer, Jr. of Apache Junction, Colorado; numerous other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2010, 10:00 a.m. at Fisher Funeral Home's Lillye Chapel, and Richard will be laid to rest in the Holdenville Cemetery.
