Maxine Alma Riedl Vodjansky Yearian, 75, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and long time Winlock resident, died on Monday, August 23, 2010 at Sharon Care Center after a five month battle with cancer. Maxine, an only child, was born December 22, 1934 at the family residence in Winlock, WA to Maximillian and Martha Reidl.
On February 20, 1954, after graduating as class Valedictorian of Toledo High School and working two years at a Winlock bank, Maxine married Clyde Vodjansky. Clyde, fresh out of the Navy, tooks his bride to Weaverville, CA where they lived and raised their family for nearly 20 years. In 1973 they returned to Winlock to be near Maxine's aging parents. She worked in the banking industry for many years, 31 of which were at Security State Bank.
Aside from being a devoted family woman, Maxine was a gifted knitter and crocheter. Known for her beautiful afghans, sweaters and baby items, she gave most of her creations as gifts or charitable donations. She was also an avid collector of Beanie Babies. Maxine enjoyed traveling and visited many regions of the United States and the world. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Winlock.
Maxine is survived by her second husband, Calvin Yearian, a loving and constant companion since their marriage on May 7, 2006; daughters Joyce (Paul) Schey, Winlock; Kathleen (Steve) Ward, Chehalis; and son Robert (Jackie) Vodjansky, Winlock, stepchildren: David (Cindy) Yearian, Longview, Rob Yearian, Woodland, Pat Yearian, Chehalis, James (Denise) Yearian, Chehalis, Mark England, Chehalis and Barbie McNurlin, Chehalis; grandchildren: Joe, Suzanne, Judi, Ian, Meghan, Stacie, Bruce, Mindy and Ayden and 14 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by Clyde, her husband of 51 years and her parents, Max and Martha Riedl.
A rosary for Maxine Vodjansky Yearian is scheduled to begin at 10:30am on Monday, Sept. 6 at St. Francis Xavier Mission, Toledo, WA. A funeral mass with Father Todd Strange presiding will begin at 11:00am. A lunch reception will follow in the parish hall. Interment in the church cemetery will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 7 at 10:00am.
