Born on July 7, 1951 in Newton, Texas to her parents, L. C. Matthews and Vera Faye (Williams) Matthews, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters.
Lynda worked as a housekeeper and she had previously worked as a checker for Wyatt's Cafeteria in Orange. Lynda also enjoyed fishing, crocheting, sitting on her porch enjoying a cup of coffee and visiting with friends.
Lynda is preceded in death by her father, L. C. Matthews.
Those who will most cherish her memory are her daughter, Belynda Smith and husband, Dallas; her mother, Vera Bowman; her sister, Brenda Matthews; her two brothers, Glenn Matthews and Lynn "Wormslapper" Matthews; three granddaughters; and by numerous extended family.
Burial: Trout Creek Cemetery in the Trout Creek community of Newton County, Texas.
