Mr Lionel James Mansfield passed away in the lloydminster Hospital on April 6, 1993 at the age of 64 years.
Lionel was born to Doris and Harvey Mansfield on February 26, 1929 in Lloydminster.
He spent a few years of early childhoot in New Westminster with his mother. He then returned to the Blackfoot area to be with his father. He often reminisced about his school years at which time he resided with the Jack George family and then with the John Tingley family, people he spoke of very highly.
During his working years, he mainly operated heavy duty equipment. For the past 17 years, Lionel worked for the City of Lloydminster. He met Flora LaHaye and they were married on February 18, 1952.
He leaves to mourn his passing. His loving wife Flora of 41 years, his three sons Marvin Mansfield of Clearbrook BC, Dale and his wife Janet Mansfield of Lloydminster and Richard and his fiance Vera Sadowska of Port Coquitlam BC. 7 grandchildren: Shauna, Todd, Taylor and Angela Mansfield. Tausha and Segan Mansfield and Veronica Sadowska: one great grandson Jonathan: one brother Bob Mansfield of Calgary; one sister-in-law Mary Mansfield of Calgary; two newphews, Michael and Warren Mansfield; and one niece, Loreen Mansfield.
He was predeceased by his mother and father.
Funeral Service was conducted from the McCaw Funeral Chapel, Lloydminster on Thursday April 8 with Reverend Chuck Mortimer officiating. Claude LaHaye read the first reading. A special poem was written and given by Angela Mansfield. The eulogy was given by Bill Browne.
The Active Pallbearers were: Todd Mansfield, Taylor Mansfield, Art Schau, Bill McGarry, Edwin Pollard and Dave Huard.
Interment followed the service in the Lloydminster Cemetery.
