Funeral services for Mrs. Beatrice W. Burgess, 82, of Cookeville, were conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2001, from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home in Cookeville with Bro. Glen McDoniel and Bro. Johnny Fox officiating. Burial was in the Judd Cemetery in Putnam County with Whitson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Burgess died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a retired General Motors factory worker and a member of the Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ.
Born August 3, 1918, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Tina Sells. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William Horn; and a son Tommy Horn.
Survivors include her husband, Haskell D. Burgess, Cookeville; a daughter, Carol Wyland, Eaton, OH; two step-daughters, Shirley Carter and Pasty Cronk, both of Cookeville; a step-son, Charles Burgess, Cookeville; a sister, Alice Carmel Norris, Livingston; two brothers, Hershell P. Sells, Crossville, and Arthur E. "Bud" Sells, Monroe; two grandsons, Tommy Horn Jr. and Dennis Wyland Jr.; two granddaughters, Tracie DeMarco and Kerrie Laramore; and five great grandchildren.
