She was born Aileen Boyd Aug. 26, 1921, in Wabasha to Harold and Essie (Nienow) Boyd. She was raised in Plainview and graduated in 1939 from Plainview High School. On June 2, 1939, she married Kenneth Bigelow in Decorah, Iowa. He died on July 9, 1979.
Aileen worked for the Marshell Wells department store in Plainview and for Plainview Milk Products for many years. She was also a bookkeeper for her husband's construction business. She was a 64-yer member of the Plainview American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, going to the casino and watching the eagles across the road from her home. She and her special friend, Harry Montgomery, wintered the past 25 years in Arizona.
She is survived by two sons, Ken (Sue) Bigelow, of Rochester, and Jim (Terri) Bigelow, of Hurst, Texas; five grandchildren, Debby (Rex) Crowe, Tony Bigelow, Randy (Debra) Bigelow, Staci Bigelow and friend Daryl, Traci (Joe) Halbmaier; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and special friend Harry Montgomery.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Lee Lorraine "Honey" La Barre; a great granddaughter, Kelley; and a daughter-in-law, Pamela Bigelow.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in Plainview, with the Rev. Dale DePeel officiating.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at Schad & Zabel. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Plainview.
