He married Shirley Isele on Nov. 8, 1948, in Montgomery, Ala. She preceded him in death.
He is survived by: his children Thelma, Patricia, Josephine, Charles, Mary, Janet, Sam, Vince, Paul and Katherine; a brother Arthur, and four sisters: Juanita, Ellen, Erma and Joan; 33 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Anna May and Norma Watts.
Charles proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corps/U.S. Air Force for 23 years, retiring in 1965 as a Lt. Col. He served during World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville.
