Byron moved to TX at age of 24 had to stay in AK for a while as he was running out of money. Worked on a farm until he earned enough money to move on , arrived in Melissa TX Nov 20 1882.
In Jan of of 1884 he married a cousin Susan Montgomery.
Byron purchased 518.16 acres of land , located between Durant and Calera, Bryan County, Oklahoma, on June 18 1920. BD as he was known, was the eldest son of Huston Rodgers and Mary Ann Montgomery a native of North Carolina, as were her father Allen Montgomery, and mother Susannah Largent. Houston and Mary's first child Byron Decalb was born in Cherokee County, NC. The Houston Rodgers family then moved to Tennessee and in Monroe County the other Children were born. John A. 1864, Alpha 1867, Maud M. 1869 ,S. Josephine 1874, Husie 1877, and Edgar McCorsky in 1880 . living first near Madisonville and then moving to Sweetwater during the Civil War.
