Maxine's parents moved from Kansas to Johnstown in 1922 where her family owned and operated a creamery. She always enjoyed helping her dad deliver milk products. They had a business slogan, "You can whip our cream, but you can't beat our butter."
On October 17, 1935, she was united in marriage to Dwight Chaffin who was an ordained Assembly of God minister. They served churches throughout Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska and Wyoming. Maxine was an LPN Nurse working in Holyoke and Haxtun.
In 1986 Dwight and Maxine retired and moved to Birchwood Apartments in Greeley.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents William and Zelta Elliott; her husband Rev. Dwight F. Chaffin; son Ronald; sister Zena Taylor; and brother Earl Elliott.
Maxine is survived by two daughters, Sharon Macklin of Enders, Nebraska and Gloria Makey of Cozad, Nebraska; son Dwight E. (Mickey) Chaffin of Bryan, Texas; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, December 19 at the Greeley First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Jim Ayres and Rev. William Beard officiating. Burial followed at the Haxtun Cemetery with Rev. Harvey Macklin officiating.
