Sarah Holley married John Selvage on 23 July 1871 at Marshall County, Alabama.

In 1910, she was living in Young County, Texas as a widow with her son-in-law, Walter C. Richardson. In 1920, she was living at Throckmorton County, Texas, near Elbert with her son-in-law's family, Walter C. Richardson.

In 1929, she filed for her husband's Confederate pension in Young County, Texas.

There were seven children born to this union:
