Jane was born on 7 June 1876 to George Ashley and Anna (Colston) Bigelow in Philadelphia, PA. She helped raise her youngest brother, Hinman, after their father died in August 1910.

She inherited her aunt Jane Francis Bigelow's house on Phillips Place (Northampton, MA) in 1909. Jane never married.

Jane died on 15 May 1939 in Northampton, MA. She was 62 years old.
