Age 78. Gerald was born October 6, 1931, to Herod Egbert Abbott and Lucinda Gertin Willison in Iowa Falls, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Marines in the Korean War, and then had a career in the Merchant Marines, in which he served in many capacities, as carpenter, chef, and personnel administrator. Gerald was united in marriage with Barbara Ann Baker on July 20, 1980. After retiring from the Merchant Marines, Gerald and Barbara visited friends who lived in Groesbeck, and loved the town. He built a house and they made Groesbeck their home, as did their daughter's family. Gerald was a member of The First United Pentecostal Church of Groesbeck, and a true Christian man. He was well loved and will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
