Raymond A. Brown served as a Colonel in the United States Army.

He served in the Army during World War I and also during World War II.

He was a son of Harris Wilbur Brown and Grace (Blinkhorn) Brown.

He entered active service during World War II on February 17, 1941 at Ft. Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania.

He received his discharge from the Army for his World War II service on December 8, 1943 at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland.

He was originally from Providence, Rhode Island.

He was a recipient of the Purple Heart.

Col. Raymond A. Brown, U.S. Army, Retired, 81, died Tuesday at his home, 353 N. 17th Street, Camp Hill.

Col. Brown retired in 1948 as commanding officer of Letterkenny Army Depot. He was a veteran of World War I and World War II, and worked as an architect with the William Whittock Co., Camp Hill. He was a past commander of Post 27, American Legion, Harrisburg; a life member of Retired Officer's Association and a member of the American Philatelic Society.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Marguerite W. Brown; three daughters: Mrs. Dorothy Davis, Pittsburgh; Mrs. Margery S. Davies, Lemoyne; Mrs. June L. George, Chambersburg; a sister, Mrs. Helen Kendall, Lakeland, N. J. Eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.

Military funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m. in the Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry Street, Harrisburg. Burial will be in the Gettysburg National Cemetery.

There will be no viewing.
