He was born to Roy and Kay Adams on November 12, 1942, in Walters, and died Monday, March 30, 2009, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Enid.
Roy attended school in Lawton and graduated from high school in 1959. He married Donna Westbrook in 1967. Roy was self-employed at Adams Farms and Interstate Trucking from 1963 to 1984. In the trucking business, he was known as "Santa Claus". In May 1992, he graduated from Cameron University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Romance Languages with an emphasis in Spanish. Roy taught Spanish from 1995 to 2000 at Hollis. He moved to Enid in 2002 and taught Spanish in Enid Public Schools until May 2005. Roy taught via televised lessons where his students knew him as "Senor Adams". He also taught at Longfellow Jr. High. Roy was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church, where he was active in prison ministry.
He is survived by one son, Roy Adams III and wife Jennifer of Hampton, VA; two daughters, Katherine Stadtmueller and husband John of Hawaii, and Lori Thomas and husband Lang of Grapevine, TX; ten grandchildren; one sister, Johnna Hopper and husband Richard of Lawton; two nieces; three grand nieces; and one grandnephew.
