He was born March 5, 1929 in St. Clair. He married Betty Fredericks on August 14, 1997.
Phil worked at the Detroit Edison from 1950 until retiring in 1991. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council 2251. Phil also was a former councilman for the City of St. Clair, and he enjoyed fishing.
Phil is survived by his wife of 39 years, Betty; his two sons, Mike and Dennis; two daughters, Loretta "Lori" (Mike) Muldermans and Danette (Mike) Hayman; grandchildren, Nathan, Angie, Chad, Adam, Melissa, Lucas, Cody, Chelsea, and Allyson; sisters, Lucille LaCroix and Theresa Goulette; a brother, Charles "Ed" Verne) LaPorte; and loyal companion, Goliath.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 A.M. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Clair. The Reverend Edward Ritter will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Visiting hours are 7 to 9 P.M. today and 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M. Thursday in L. C. Friederichs & Son Funeral Home, St. Clair.
