A funeral for Vernon E. Brandt of Sheridan will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Trinity Lutheran Church, Sheridan, with the Rev. Fred Storteboom officiating.

Private family interment will be in Green Crest Cemetery, Sheridan.

Mr. Brandt died Oct. 15, 2000, in his home. He was 66.

He was born April 29, 1934, in McMinnville, the son of Edward and Alice Grauer Brandt. He was raised and educated in Sheridan. He was the student body president at Sheridan High School.

He served in the Army in Korea. After attending Oregon Technical Institute in Klamath Falls, he returned to Sheridan to run the family farm. He was the third generation in his family to run the farm, now run by his son.

He and Myrna Jean Hundtoft were married Sept. 2, 1961, in Portland.

Mr. Brandt was a lifelong member, past council president and elder of Trinity Lutheran Church, Sheridan. He had served several terms on the board of directors of Sheridan Grain Co. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife; a son, David Brandt of Sheridan; a daughter, Rachel Berg of Seattle; five sisters, Evelyn DeJong of Sheridan, Charlotte Nordling of Eugene, Sarah Wilson of Milwaukie, Sharon Willweber of Seattle and Nancy Lingenfelter of Munson, Pa.; a brother, Edgar Brandt of Dallas; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Nathan, in 1983.
