OBITUARY:

MANUEL M. VASQUEZ

ABILENE-- Manuel M. Vasquez, 97, passed away peacefully Monday, February 6, 2012, at Hendrick Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial wll be 10:00 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church with Father Terry Brenon officiating. Burial will follow in the Tuscola Cemetery, directed by Abilene Funeral Home Chapel, 3349 N. 12th Street.

Mr. Vasquez was born November 12, 1914 in Elgin, Texas to the late Juan and Fabianita Vasquez. Mr. Vasquez had been a resident of Lawn since 1952, moving to Abilene in 1991.

Survivors include five sons, Frank Vasquwz and wife, Liz of Bangs, Paul Vasquez and wife, Chavela of Michigan, Jesse Vasquez and wife, Genie of Lawn, Andrew "Andy" Vasquez and wife, Janie of Abilene and Manuel Vasquez Jr. and wife, Pauline of Brownwooe; a grandson who he raised like a son, Steve Peraza; three daughters, Beatrice "Bea" V. Olvera, Aurora "Rose" Bumgarner and Janie Vasquez all of Abilene; a brother, Paul Vasquez of Abilene; a sister, Angelina Orta of Abilene; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Vasquez was preceded in death by his wife, Manuela Vasquez; a brother, Antonio Vasquez; two sisters, Petra Vasquez and Lupe Vasquez.
