Gerald James "Jim" Baker, age 74 of Cheboygan passed away Sunday, September 12, 2010 at Northern Michigan Regional Hospital in Petoskey. A lifelong resident of the area, Jerry was born March 25, 1936, the son of Carl and Violet (Acha) Baker. On June 15, 1957, Jerry married Sharon Elyea. He worked for Proctor & Gamble for 29 years and after retirement, he drove bus for Cheboygan Schools. Jerry was a member of the GWRRA motorcycle group for the past 20 years.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sharon, his children, Jerry (Dottie) of Traverse City, Shari (Tom) Ball of Alanson and Mike (Lillian) of Indian River, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, four brothers, Melvin, Bill, Bernard and Carl and two sisters, Rosella and Corinne.
Cremation has taken place and a graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at 11:00 am at Oak Hill Cemetery in Aloha Township. Nordman-Christian Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
