Mrs. Meldy Estridge Pigg, 87, widow of George H. Pigg, died at 9 p.m. October 14, at her home, Route 1, East Bernstadt.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 17, at the East Bernstadt Baptist Church by the Revs. Heston Hatcher and Beve Jones. Interment followed in the Liberty Cemetery at Egypt, Ky. by the House Funeral Home. Pallbearers were grandsons.
A native of Leslie County, Mrs. Pigg was born April 1, 1877, the daughter of Marion and Sallie Lewis Estridge. She was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church. Her husband preceded her in death.
Surviving are seven daughters and one son, Rebecca Wilson, Peoples; Isabell Harrison, East Bernstadt; Martha Morris and Frona Harrison, both of Hamilton; Eliza Rader, East Bernstadt Route 1; Sallie Chesnut, Okeana, Ohio; Hallie Andes, Ross, Ohio; and Everett Pigg, Okeana, Ohio; 40 grandchildren, 82 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She also leaves brothers and sisters: Grant and Keen Estridge, both of Burning Springs; Live Estridge, Imogene and Lela Mae Hornsby, all of Cincinnati; and Charlene Ward, Mummie, Ky.; and a half-brother, Robert Estridge, Cincinnati.
