Col. Robert D. Nesbitt, 90 of Marietta died Monday, September 13, 2010. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 17, 2010 at St. Barnabas Anglican Church, 4795 N. Peachtree Road in Dunwoody with The Rev. Cannon William R. Weston officiating. Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia. Col. Nesbitt received his Doctorate in Voice from the Columbia University. Robert was a member of the American Legion Post 134 and Memorial Order of the World Wars.
He was the Chief Engineer under General Patton in charge of roads to the "Battle of the Bulge."
Col. Nesbitt was a member of General Eisenhower's Staff.
He was a loving husband, papa and granddaddy. Robert is survived by his wife of 61 years, India Minnette Parker Nesbitt; one daughter & son-in-law, Nancy-Jo & Byron Hays and a grandson, Edward Spencer Hays all of Marietta; one sister, Edna Jane Dexter of New York, NY; nieces and nephews. Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home & Crematory in Marietta.
