Chico Record, Saturday Morning, June 29, 1907, pg 5 col 2: Stricken By Death While Engaged in Work. George W. Anderson, for thirty-three years a resident of Chico and Butte county, died yesterday shortly before 12 o’clock at his place of business at the Junction, a sudden attack of apoplexy being the cause of death.
The deceased was born near California, Mo., October 6, 1841. Nearly thirty-three years ago he moved with his family to California, and located in Butte county. For a while he lived several miles north of Chico, raising poultry for market. Eight years ago he removed to Chico and with his son engaged in the grocery business at the present location at the Junction.
Yesterday morning he arose feeling as well as usual and went about his work in the store. The attack of apoplexy which caused his death came while he was bending over at his work. He felt severe pains in his head, and upon complaining was taken to his room. Dr. Enloe was called, but a second attack followed and death resulted.
The deceased leaves two daughters, Mrs. Alice Estes and Mrs. Annie Foster; one son, W.S. Anderson, and a sister, Mrs. Susan Humes, and a wife, all of Chico.
The funeral will be held Sunday, the hour to be announced later.
