George John Bliss was born to _______ and _______ in Alsase, Germany (now part of France). He immigrated to the United States in 1884. At Age of 20, he married Pearl Windows Bliss on June 11, 1910 in Indiana, Indiana County, Pennsylvania. They had two children: Geraldine Bliss Boles Kunkle (1910 – 1997) and Charles. Pearl died in 1915 in Sagamore, Pennsylvania. He then married Matilda "Mary"? about 1927. He was living in Chicago, Illinois working as an Auto Painter, when he was inducted into the U.S. Army on June 1, 1918. He served as a Private in France with Battery "C", of the 52nd Field Artillery Battalion, of the American Expeditionary Forces during World War 1. He was honorable discharged on February 14, 1919.
