Word was received Tuesday of the death in Torrance, Cal., of Arthur William Johnson, 52, a native of South Cottonwood. He was loading his automobile for a trip to Utah when he suffered a stroke. Mr. Johnson had been a department assistant superintendent of Texas Company of Southern California until he retired due to ill health.
He was born Dec. 13, 1895, a son of Otto N. and Elise (Lizzie) Stromness Johnson. He attended Salt Lake County Schools and served in World War I. He married Fern Caldwell of Salt Lake City in 1919. They moved to California in 1933.
Surviving are his widow; two sons, Gordon W. and Boyd Johnson, and two grandchildren, Torrence; 11 brothers and sisters; Robert E. Johnson, Salt Lake City; Melvin E. and Floyd H. Johnson, Midvale; Dr. R. O., Frank A., and James C. Johnson, Mrs. Irene Marcek and Mrs. Leah Ballard, Murray; Mrs. Theressa Babb, Long Beach, Cal., Mrs. Phyllis Harris, Los Angeles, and Mrs. May Tomlinson, Norfolk, Va. Funeral services and burial will be in Torrence.
