Mrs. Joiner passed away on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at Lanier Nursing Home. She was born on June 2, 1923 in Waverly, AL to Elijah Hearn and Lula Stephenson Hearn. She was a member of Kellyton Baptist Church and actively attended Shawmut First Baptist Church. She was an excellent cook and cooked the best biscuits. She enjoyed going to church, gardening, quilting and canning. She was always reaching out to others and could put a smile on everyone's face.
She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth "Liz" Landreth(Charles Terry), Lanett, Betty Dye (Rawls), Alexander City, Effie King (Clint), Alexander City, and Linda Browning, Kellyton; sons, Gene Joiner, Jackson's Gap and Willie Joiner (Joyce), Heflin; 18 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Joiner; son, Henry William Joiner; brother, Henry Woodfin Hearn; sisters, Lily Thomas Gipson and Janie Mann; grandson, Steven Edward Joiner.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be given to the Shawmut First Baptist Church, Attn. Bathroom Fund, 2300 23rd Street, Valley, AL 36854 or to the Christian Service Center, P.O. Box 227, Lanett, AL 36863.
