Descends from one John Moseley, who settled in Dorchester in 1630. In 1641, land records indicate he spelled his name Maudesley. Research of the early genealogical history of settlers in New England shows that the original spelling of Maudesley was indeed changed to Moseley throughout the family. John was buried in a tomb in the old burying ground in Dorchester.
Mother: Mary Newberry (1647-1703), burial unknown.
