Dr. Fambro's practice begain about 1849 and may have covered a large area of west-central Georgia. He was a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia, in Augusta, but may have received his degree in earlier education. He was listed in a "History of Coweta County," by W.U. Anderson, as having practiced medicine there, in 1853. Lucius C. Fambro was admitted on trial in 1858 as a minister in the Methodist Espiscopal Church South, served at Starksville, Americus Circuit, in 1859.

A Bible records the marriage of " L.C. Fambro, MD, & Martha F. Dobbs, at Marietta, Cobb County, March 20, 1849 by D. Dawson." Lucius' death was December 20, 1861 as stated in "The (Savannah) Daily Morning News,"on December 21, and "The Savannah Republican." "Suicide. Coroner Eden held an inquest yesterday at Caustin's Bluff, on the body of Dr. Lucius C. Fambro, a Private in Capt. Hartsfield's Company of 13th Georgia Volunteers, from Upson County, Ga. The unfortunate man, it seems, in a fit of aberration, stabbing himself in two places in his left breast after taking laudanum. His remains have been taken to Upson for interment. His Bible record lists four children.
