William was a farmer in Middleton Township. He married widow Elizabeth Moore Broughman on 27 February 1862 in Wood County, and they had children: Angie Etta (1863) and Laura Christina (1865). He first married Celinda White and they had Lucinda, Philetus, Charles, and Helen. William died of lung fever in Middleton Township. It is believed he was the son of Samuel and Hannah Race Ewing.
