Ruth L. Parker Bates, 92, passed from this life Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010. She was born July 27, 1918, in Lampasas, Texas, to John Dexter and Molly Belle Richter Parker.
Mrs. Bates was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney W. Bates; her parents, three brothers, one sister, one granddaughter, Barbara Lynn Bates; and great-grandson, Wade Randall Moore Jr.
Ruth is survived by her only son, Sidney Ray (Debbie) Bates of Flora Vista; grandson, Jimmy Ray (Maxcine) Bates of Albuquerque; granddaughters, Darla Cantrell, Linda (Lawrence) Owen, Patricia Moore and Charlotte (Wade) Parker, all of Farmington; one sister, Vivian Hale of Tulsa; and three sisters-in-law, Beatrice Parker of Lampasas, Mary Gates of Avondale, Ariz., and Mattie Bates of San Angelo, Texas; as well as 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
She moved from Odessa, Texas, to the Farmington area with her husband and son in 1957.
Ruth was a lifetime member of the United Pentecostal Church.
After the death of her husband, she worked for 13 years as a retail clerk with Levines Department Store. She then moved to Texas and retired from Sears before returning to Farmington.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20, at Greenlawn Cemetery, 1606 N. Dustin Ave. in Farmington.
Interment will follow immediately.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Cedar Ridge for the excellent care and kindness shown to us while Ruth was in their care.
