Missouri Isabell McDaniel was a daughter of John B McDaniel and Nancy Harrison McDaniel of Macon County Alabama. Missouri married Simeon Taylor Nelson in Notasulga Alabama on Sept 5, 1872. John B McDaniel and family had come to Alabama from Georgia in the 1840s.

Shortly after their marriage, Simeon and Missouri, together with Missouri's parents moved from Macon County to Clanton, Alabama in Chilton County, probably in search for more and better work opportunities.

Simeon Taylor was a Blacksmith, and evidently, he was a pretty good one. Stories have been passed down in the family about how people would come from all over the area to get him to build them a horse carriage. In 1880, both families (Nelsons and Mcdaniels) were living in Clanton Alabama. At some point in the early 1880s, Simeon Taylor and his family relocated about 15 south of Clanton, to Stanton Village (as it was known in those days), where they lived until the early 1900s at which time they moved to Selma Alabama, about 25 miles north of Stanton. By 1898, Simeon Taylor and Missouri had eight child born to them. In 1921, while living with their son, William Thomas in Selma, Missouri Nelson died suddenly, working at her sewing machine. She was 65. Simeon Taylor died shortly afterwards, in Feb 1923 at the age of 76. Both Simeon Taylor and Missouri are buried in Live Oak Cemetery in Selma, Dallas County, Alabama.
