Alma Chaney Farmer, 90, of Sweetwater, TN died Friday night, September 17, 2010 at Wood Presbyterian Home in Sweetwater, TN.

A native of Loudon County, and a resident of McMinn County, most of her life, she was a daughter of the late Charles Henry and Arminda (Minnie) Parker Chaney.

She was a member of Steekee Creek Baptist Church, and a loving mother and grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her parents, listed above; her husband, James A. Farmer Sr.; 2 brothers and 4 sisters.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Jewell and JB Arnwine of Calhoun, TN, Linda and Gene Watson of Madisonville, TN and Vivian Jean Farmer of Athens, TN; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Dianne Farmer Jr. of Hampton, VA, Jerry and Lola Farmer of Knoxville, TN and Edward J. Farmer of St. Petersburg, FL; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, other family members and all her adopted family at Wood Presbyterian Home.

Funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Monday, September 20, 2010 in the South Chapel with the Rev. Hoyt S. Melton and Rev. Ronnie Best officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday prior to the service.

Family and friends will assemble at Sweetwater Memorial Park at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 21st for the committal service.

Jeff Hamilton, Brad Farmer, Jason Farmer, Keith Arnwine, Caleb Arnwine, Chuck Bickel, Brad Smith and Logan Smith will serve as pallbearers.
