Sophia Kester was born in PA and married in 1825 to Henry Wise. They moved, along with several others in the family to Crawford Co, Ohio in 1829 and were among the first settlers in that area until 4 November 1839 when they moved on to Cedar Co Iowa. Three children were born to them in PA, five in Oh and five more in IA. Henry was a miller, prospered and became a man of means. In the summer of 1856, he and Sophia returned to Crawford Co OH to visit family when Henry became ill and died. He is buried in the Whetstone Cemetery, Crawford Co OH along with his parents and many of his siblings. Sophia returned to Iowa alone on the train and lived with her son, Owen as an invalid the last four years of her life after a fall on the ice.
