Francis M. "Babe" Yancey, 85 of 513 Chestnut Road, Hinton died at 12:58 a.m. Tuesday morning November 15, 2005 at his home following a long illness.

Born April 29, 1920 in Hinton, he was the son of the late James A. and Lena Deaver Yancey.

"Babe" was a retired 1st Class Serviceman for VEPCO in Hinton. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Hinton, and was a lifelong resident of Hinton. "Babe" was also a Ham Radio Operator.

He was preceded in death by one brother, James A. Yancey. Also preceded by an infant sister.

Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Mary McLaughlin Yancey.

One son, Michael Yancey of Hinton.

One daughter, Betty Grear & husband J.D. of Beckley.

One granddaughter, Dedra Snead One great grandson, Trevor Snead Two step grandchildren, Jessica & Danielle Grear.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday November 17, 2005 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Grover Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Restwood Memorial Gardens in Hinton. Friends may call from 6 until 8 P.M. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be, Rodney & Richard Ford, Steve McNeer, Jerry Meadows, Chris Snead, J.D. Grear, and Kim Bennett.
