Jacob "Jake" was the son of Casper Adamus Cornelius and Margaret Gabriel, who both immigrated from Prussia (Germany). Jacob moved to Nebraska with his family in 1878, and married Rosalia "Rose" Grams in Dec 1893 in Kearney County, Nebraska.

Jacob F Cornelius Funeral Will Be Held Tuesday.

Jacob Francis Cornelius, 69, a resident of Kearney for the past sixty-two years, died at his home here, 306 East Twenty-seventy street, early this morning. He was a Union Pacific railway shop employee here until his retirement six years ago.

Surviving are Mrs Cornelius, one son, Carl J. of Kearney, and three daughters: Mrs. Irvin S (Ella) Knoll of Detroit, Mich; Miss Margaret M. Cornelius, of Kearney, and Miss Dora Cornelius, of Lincoln.

A brother, Joseph Cornelius, of Lincoln, and two sisters, Mrs. Lena McCombs, of Omaha, and Mrs. Anna Sheville, of Chicago, also survive, as do seven grandchildren: Leo, Paul, Mary Ellen, Junior, George and Lela May Cornelius, Kearney, and Frank Knoll, Detroit.

Funeral Services will be held from the St James church here next Tuesday morning at nine-thirty o'clock. Interment will be made in the Kearney cemetery.

Mr Cornelius was one of the oldest and best-known residents of the city.
