Jim was born August 13, 1921 in Forsyth County to James Walter Beasley Sr. and Ada Hudson Beasley. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army 30th Division 120th Infantry, during World War II, where he earned two purple hearts, the EAME medal with 4 bronze stars, and the American Defense Ribbon. After his service to his country and returning home, he helped start Veterans Cab Co. and then became a dispatcher for Blue Bird Cab Co., before his employment with Western Electric Co. from which he retired in 1978 after 25 years. He was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Ruth E. Beasley of the home; son James W. Beasley III and wife Leslie of Midway; daughter Rebecca Justice and husband Danny of Lexington; four grandchildren, Jamie and Jay Beasley, Debra Carlton, and Danny Ray Justice; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and a brother Bill Beasley of Danbury, N.C.
