Thomas Hersey
Thomas C. Mersey, 48, of Moravia, died Wednesday, March
27,1996 in Des Moines as a result of an auto accident.
He was born Oct. 8, 1947, in Butte, Montana, the son of Thomas and Elizabeth (Cass) Hersey.
Survivors include three brothers,Jonathan Hersey of Albuquerque,New Mexico; Stephen Hersey of Oskaloosa and Samuel Hersey of Fort Lewis, Washington and a sister, Sara Gardner of Tacoma,Washington.
Preceding him in death was a brother, Tim Hersey.
He served in the U. S. Army,and was a veteran of the Vietnam
conflict. He was employed as a cook at Noah's Restaurant in Des Moines. Funeral services were held at 1 p. m. Saturday, March 30, at the Albia Open Bible Church with the
Rev. Lowell Simmons officiating. Burial was in the Main Station Cemetery near Moravia, with military rites by the Albia Legion Post. An open memorial has been established.
Gilbert-Nordstrom Funeral Home, South, was in charge of arrangements.
