Mr. Dobbins

Robert Donald Dobbins, 48, of 2698 Cedartown Highway, died Saturday evening at a Rome hospital after a long illness.

Mr. Dobbins was born in Floyd County, April 12, 1938, son of Virginia Kelley Dobbins and the late Vester E. Dobbins. He was a member of the Vanns Valley Baptist Church, where he was on the deacon board. He was employed by Sears Roebuck as a service technician, was a member of the Lindale Lodge No.455 F&AM and the Western Promenaders and was Squadron Leader in Emergency Management. He was a veteran of the Korea Conflict and a member of the Goldwing Road Riders Association.

Survivors include his wife, the former Joyce Morgan, Rome, two daughters, Annette Self, Rome and Diane Weech, Germany, three grandchildren;nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. today at the chapel of Henderson-Frazier Funeral Home with Virginia Courtney, the Rev. Floyd Battles, Jr. and the Rev. Paul Lloyd officiating. Interment was at Floyd Memory Gardens.
