Mr Borland was a native of Clayton, a son of James and Hannah Kelsey Borland. When he was a year old his parents moved to cape Vincent and he resided in that Village all of his life. For many years Mr Borland was a sailor on the Great Lakes. After leaving that work he was appointed sexton of the Riverside Cemetery, and retained that position for many years until illness forced him to relinquish that job. He was married to Miss Anna M Merchant on February 27, 1882 on Carlton Island. He is survived by his widow, one son, Karl H Borland of Cape Vincent, and one granddaughter, Margaret Borland also of Cape Vincent. A son, Dwight G Borland preceeded him in death October 28, 1918.
