Edgewood, Iowa -- Funeral services for John W. Wathen, 57, were held inthe Methodist ChurchSunday afternoon with the Rev. F. O. Winslow conducting the service. Burial was in the Edgewood Cemetery.

Mr. Wathen, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Wathen, was born Sept. 4, 1877 (sic) at Turkey River. He died last Friday following a brief illness.

On Feb. 6, 1901 he married Miss Cora Borrett and to this union three children were born. Two sons preceded him in death. Clyde L. died Feb. 18, 1933 and Sanford J. died in infancy. The daughter Miss Fern Louise Wathen, is a teacher in the primary department in West Union School. Besides the widow and daugher, there are surviving three grandchildren, two brothers, Fred and Bert Wathen of Garber, and one sister, Mrs. Ella Line of Marshalltown.

Until November the Wathen family had lived in Colesburg for the past five years where Mr. Wathen drove the star mail route from Dyersville.
