Mr. Barton came to Marietta in 1943 as a part of the Bell Bomber Plant staff. A building designer, he supervised the building of the Barn Dinner Theater and managed it when it opened in 1965. For the past 11 years, he worked with Taylor Enterprises of Atlanta. His last building project was the First National Bank of Cobb building on the Marietta Square. Mr. Barton was awarded the Silver Beaver Award in scouting, training hundreds of adults to work with young scouts in Cobb County. He initiated the Scout program of working at Georgia Tech and continued working for the athletic department for 27 years.
He is survived by his wife, Kittye Barton; daughters, Ms. K. Drew, Washington, D.C., Jan Barton, Atlanta; son, Teri Barton, Atlanta; three grandchildren; brothers. H. Paul Barton, Largo, Fla., Theodore S. Barton, Tampa. Fla., and W. Wilson Barton, Savannah.
