Arthur Dodson Beers, 89, of Lower Makefield Township, Pa., died Tuesday, March 2, 2004, at St. Mary Medical Center.

Born and raised in Gary, Indiana, he has been a Lower Makefield resident for 52 years.

Mr. Beers was an Industrial Supervisor starting his career with U.S. Steel Corporation then with Nicolet Industries in Amber, Pa. and retiring from Welded Tube Company in Philadelphia, Pa.

He was a member of the Woodside Presbyterian Church and served on the Lower Makefield Swimming Pool Board. He was an active supporter of the Boy Scouts and a member of the Masonic Order, a former member of the Lions Club and enjoyed swimming and stamp collecting.

He was the husband of the late Virginia Wilson and father of the late Arthur Dodson Beers III, and is survived by a son, Robert Wilson Beers of Fairfax, Va.

A Funeral Service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Woodside Presbyterian Church in Lower Makefield. Burial will follow at Newtown Cemetery, Newtown, Pa. Friends may call from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Friday at the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home, 17 S. Delaware Avenue (River Road), Yardley, Pa.
