Monroe L. Calender, 61, Sedona, Ariz., died Sunday, Aug. 28, 1988 in the hospital in Cottonwood, Ariz. He had been in failing health, but his death was unexpected.

Calender was born in Greensburg, the son of Raymond and Alta Monroe Calender. A graduate of Greensburg High School, he resided in Arizona 28 years. He was a farmer and a farmer implement salesman all his life.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Calender; two sons, John Calender, Queen Creek, Ariz., and Don Calender, Tempe, Ariz.; two daughters, Sarah Brimhall, Snowflake, Ariz., and Nancy Tappas, Chandler, Ariz.; and numerous grandchildren.

One sister, Betty Jo Hyneman, preceded him in death.

Graveside memorial services will be 8 a.m. Wednesday at the Sedona, Ariz., Memorial Park. Visitation will be Tuesday evening at the Wescott Funeral Home in Sedona, Ariz.

The family suggests that any memorials go to the American Heart Association.
