William Herndon Allred, 72, of 116 Whitesell Drive, Elon died at UNC Hospitals on Sunday, September 19, 2010 at 4:05 p.m. following three months of failing health.

A native of Caswell County, he was the husband of Isabella Kimbro Allred, who survives and the son of Samuel Thomas Allred and Lillie Herndon Allred, both deceased. He was a member of the North Carolina National Guard. Mr. Allred was employed with the Greensboro Housing Authority for 22 years. He was also a part-time farmer and part-time deliverer of the magazine, Triad Golf Today. William was a member of Concord Christian Church and the North State Boating Club.

In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include one son, Jay Allred and wife Susan of Pfafftown; two grandchildren, Victoria Allred and Catherine Allred; one brother, Jimmy Allred and Anne Griffith of Caswell County; and one nephew, David Allred of Atlanta.

The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Bob Stephenson and Rev. Keith Murray. Burial will follow at Concord Christian Church Cemetery, Caswell County, NC.

The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Other times they will be at the residence.
