Mr. Herbert A. Johnson, 73, of 1861 E. Main St., Galesburg, IL died at 7:30 AM Tuesday, March 9, 2004 in Heartland Health Care Center. He was born November 30, 1930 in Galesburg, IL the son of Herbert A. and Thelma Johnson. He married Rosemary Smith on August 5, 1956 in Galesburg IL. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons; Larry "Rocky" (and Roxanne) Johnson of Abingdon, IL and Scott (and Becky) Johnson of Peoria Heights, IL, a cousin with whom he was raised, Aileen Ritchie of Mountain Home, AR, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a step sister.
He worked for Rowe Manufacturing Company for 28 years. He grew up in the Woodhull and Galesburg area. He grew up on a farm with his Uncle and Aunt who raised him. He was a member of the Allen Park Baptist Church. He served in the National Guard for two years. Graveside services will be 3:00 PM Friday, March 12, 2004 in Knoxville (IL) Cemetery with Rev. Nolan Purtell officiating.
