Mrs. Cora Brown, Former Delavan Woman, Succumbs

Delavan (TPS) - Mrs. Cora Alice Brown, 83, former Delavan woman, died Thursday noon in Peoria, following a long illness. Mrs. Brown was the widow of Willis K. Brown, who was business agent for the Carpenters union before he died in 1947.

Mrs. Brown was born near Delavan Sept. 18, 1869, a daughter of Henry M. and Sarah A. Gentzler Shipton. She was married to Willis Brown in Delavan, Sept. 23, 1891.

She was a 50-year member of the Delavan chapter, OES, of which she was a past worthy matron.

She is survived by one brother, William H. Shipton, Delavan. One brother is deceased.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Gauss Mortuary, Peoria. Rev. Richard M. Newhall, pastor of the Delavan Methodist church, will officiate. Burial will be in Prairie Rest cemetery.

Friends may call at the mortuary today from 4 to 9 p.m.
