MISHAWAKA -- Loretta Jean Dosmann, 83, of Mishawaka, passed away Thursday afternoon, September 23, 2010. Loretta known to many as "Lore" was born in South Bend on April 4, 1927. She grew up in South Bend where she graduated from South Bend Catholic High School.

On December 28, 1946, Lore married Gervase "Gerv" E. Dosmann in the Cathedral of St. Matthew in South Bend. During their lives together the couple lived in Mishawaka and Granger. Gerv and Lore loved spending summers at their cabin in Canada.

Lore was employed as a retail manager at UP Mall where she loved being surrounded by people. Over the years, she attended the Cathedral of St. Matthew in South Bend, St. Joseph Parish in Mishawaka, and St. Pius X Parish in Granger. Lore enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, and helping her husband with their large garden. She loved attending her daughter's and granddaughters' activities.

Lore's family includes her husband of over 63 years, Gerv; daughter Rosemarie Dosmann Kehr; and granddaughters Ashley and Brittney Kehr.

Lore was preceded in death by her parents, a brother [Ervin], and a sister [Dorothy].

Services honoring Lore's life will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday in Thallemer, Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka, with Rev. Jacob Runyon officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.

Loretta was the daughter of Stanley Cencelewski and Genevieve "Jean" Staszewski, who later divorced. Genevieve married Paul Weise on 04 Aug 1931 in St. Joseph, Berrien County, Michigan; they later divorced.

The 1940 U.S. Census shows Loretta and her siblings living with their mother and stepfather in South Bend, Indiana, listed with the last name WEISE. Her brother Ervin kept the last name WEISE.
